This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Engineer to move into a role overseeing technical projects and their direction within the fast-growing EA VisNet business within the EA Technology group.

The EA VisNet business design and manufacture LV monitoring and fault restoration products along with associated data services for Electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNO), supporting their transition to Net Zero. This is vital in a world becoming increasingly reliant on electricity distribution networks to power electric vehicles and enable low carbon heating solutions.

The EA VisNet business is experiencing significant growth due to a range of revolutionary products. The growth in the business is resulting in growth of the Product Development Team, which opens up this position.

The successful candidate will be deeply involved across all projects within the Product Development Team of EA VisNet, overseeing the architecture of products and their technical implementations. Because of this, the successful candidate must have significant industrial experience Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Software Engineering with a proven track history of delivering products from concept through to manufacture. Liaising with the internal sales teams and customers is an essential part of the role to help the customer solve challenges on adoption of our products and advise on the interaction with their wider IT/OT systems, hence excellent communication skills are essential.

Essential skills and experience

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Proven track record in at least one significant aspect of product development from specification to manufacture
  • Appreciation of Product compliance and risk management
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and ensure their needs are being met
  • Professional Engineering experience
  • Excellent communication, and presentation skills
  • Proven track history of taking projects from specification through to implementation and release
  • Full responsibility and ownership of projects & tasks
  • Able to be flexible and determine changing priorities
  • Experience of leading a team of engineers on a project
  • Credible and influential
  • Clear analytical thinker with a pragmatic approach
  • Able to work creatively and collaboratively in a problem-solving environment
  • Principal level competence in at least one of the following areas:
o Electronics (Maintainable PCB design, manufacture and quality)
o Systems (Design, development & implementation)
o Project Management (Responsibility, management & leadership)
o Software Engineering (Requirements, design, development, testing, quality, cyber security)

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of managing engineers/scientists in a technical environment
  • Understanding of electricity utilities and smart networks would be an advantage
  • Significant Project management experience
