As an Archives Assistant within the Royal Archives, you'll play an important part in the daily care, access and interpretation of a remarkable collection spanning more than 250 years of Royal history. You'll help ensure that researchers, enquirers and staff can access the information they need efficiently, securely and to the highest professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

From retrieving original documents for researchers to returning them safely to store, you'll ensure accurate tracking of all material using the loans database. You'll support the correct storage, handling and conservation of records, working closely with conservation specialists to safeguard the collection. Responding to enquiries, you'll undertake research across a wide range of archival material, providing clear and reliable information. You'll carry out basic archival listing, cataloguing and indexing tasks under the guidance of the Senior Archivist, helping to enhance the discoverability of the collection. You'll re-house archival material as required, ensuring items are stored appropriately for long-term preservation. Supporting the Archives' engagement activities, you'll help showcase the collection to visitors, contributing to the wider understanding of the Royal Archives' work. Working within this unique environment, you'll have the opportunity to develop your archival skills and gain valuable experience across a broad range of activities.

Self-motivated, you'll enjoy working independently, but also will work well alongside a team of specialists.
