How you'll make a difference:
As Area Committee Officer, you will be the main point of contact for the pilot area committees and support community engagements efforts to encourage active participation the democratic process. You will be key in the coordination of their implementation, facilitating the preparation of meeting documents and providing guidance to a wide variety of partners.
What you will be doing:
Working on the pilot area committees project, you will be responsible for coordinating meetings, setting agendas, and facilitating workshops within the committees to support community participation.
You will need to establish strong relationships with key partners, including town and parish councils, voluntary community and social enterprise groups (VCSE), residents, local businesses, the police and fire and rescue.
It will be your responsibility to provide an effective administration service, including continuous evaluation, organising and recording meetings, ensuring documents are accurate, actions are tracked, and deadlines are met.
Using your experience and knowledge, you will ensure all those involved are well informed, the information provided is accurate and relevant and a high level of service is maintained.
What we need from you:
It is essential that you have practical experience in a similar community engagement area and have a good understanding of local government.
You will hold or be working towards a professional qualification in community development/asset-based community development (ABCD) or have relevant experience.
We require you to have experience of meeting service standards, targets and tight deadlines.
You will have excellent administration experience, including arranging meetings, producing minutes and presenting findings in a clear and concise format.
Given the elements of this role, you will be an excellent communicator and have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage successfully with community groups and customers.
What you need to know:
This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, with the requirement to work outside of the normal office hours.
This is a limited term contract for 2 years.
This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate and working from home.
