Radish is a well-established, family run business. We provide meals to a select group of schools across London and the South East. We pride ourselves on our customized and personal service to each school and believe every child is entitled to healthy, nutritious, freshly cooked, delicious food.

An exciting vacancy has arisen for a Area Manager, being responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of a high-quality Catering Service within school kitchens. The most important part of the job is achieving good quality within a budget and maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction. This will include completing a planned programme of Audits each year, investigating and controlling food costs, managing KPI's, building relationships with schools and managing the daily tasks of the catering support workers.

We offer weekday, term-time-only hours, a supportive management team and all the training you need. Our perfect candidate will ideally have at least experience in a catering environment, as well as a friendly attitude and excellent organisational skills.

Major Duties and Responsibility:



1. To ensure that the service is delivered in accordance with the requirements of Radish and the school, and there is a whole team approach.

2. To ensure all policies and procedures are implemented and continue to be adhered to.

3. To comply with health, safety and other reasonable instructions given as necessary, rectifying or where appropriate reporting safety hazards or unsafe working arrangements in accordance with Risk Assessment Legislation and to carry out Risk Assessments as directed.

4. To continually improve the service and increase sales to meet financial targets set by Radish.

5. To identify process and operational efficiencies to reduce costs within the kitchens and through the supply chain.

6. To manage kitchen software and necessary training within your area.

7. To ensure that all kitchens keep and maintain financial and administrative records.

8. To achieve standards and KPI's set by management team across kitchen areas.

9. Understanding of finance and ability to manage budgets .

10. To demonstrate a flexible approach to ensure a high quality service is maintained in conjunction with customer care.

11. To maintain good relationships with pupils, headteacher, any school staff, governors and visitors to the school.

12. To supervise and motivate catering staff to work as a team in relation to their duties and responsibilities and ensure that all Government Legislation is followed.

13. To be responsible for the ongoing training and development of existing staff and new starters including induction training.

14. To manage sickness and absence within your area and carry out return to work interviews with kitchen staff, as required.

15. To attend courses or undertake any training that may be required.

16. To monitor the quality of the food and service and ensure that the correct menu and recipes are followed, correct portions are served, and special dietary requirements are adhered to.

17. To ensure supplies are ordered in accordance with the guidelines given.

18. To ensure stock control and inventory checks are maintained, catering/cleaning supplies received are dealt with correctly and monthly stock checks are carried out promptly and accurately.

19. Where cash is collected ensure, it is complete, and cash held is securely held until banked.

20. When covering a kitchen: To be responsible for the preparation, presentation, cooking and organising of meals, food and beverages. To oversee the daily meal service and ensure that all pupils are encouraged to take a meal which is offered in a friendly and caring manner.

21. To organise and undertake as necessary, general kitchen duties.

22. The post-holder may be required to perform work not specifically identified in this job profile, but which are in line with the general level of responsibilities of this post.ensure that the services are being delivered in accordance with the standards of Radish

2. To ensure the standards of preparation, presentation, cooking, and organising of meals, food and beverages are being adhered to.

3. To ensure that the correct menu and recipes are followed, and portions are served.

4. To ensure all menus relating to children with allergies are displayed and correspond to dietary needs form. If made aware of a new customer with allergies contact the menu development team priory to serving any food.

5. To ensure the cash collection is complete in the agreed manner and cash is held securely until banked.

6. To complete and maintain operational and financial records as required relating to staff hours and attendance, meal numbers, food costs/stock take and purchases.

7. To meet financial targets set by TSLC.

8. To order supplies in accordance with the guidelines given.

9. To maintain stock control and carry out necessary inventory checks and deal with catering supplies received.

10. To supervise catering staff to work as a team in relation to their duties and responsibilities and ensure that all Government Legislation is followed.

11. To maintain good relationships with pupils, Headteacher, school staff, Governors and visitors to the school.

12. To be responsible for the daily meal service and ensure that all pupils are encouraged to take a meal which is offered in a friendly and caring manner.

13. To organise and undertake as necessary, general kitchen duties including cleaning, washing up and setting up and clearing down of the dining room.

14. To be responsible for the training and development of all staff.

15. To implement and control staff rotas.

16. To continually improve the service and increase sales.

17. To undertake appropriate duties as directed in respect of functions etc.

18. To attend courses or undertake any training that may be required.

19. To comply with health, safety and other reasonable instructions given as necessary, rectifying or where appropriate reporting, safety hazards or unsafe working arrangements in accordance with Risk Assessment Legislation, and to carry out Risk Assessments as directed.

20. To demonstrate a flexible approach to ensure a high quality service is maintained in conjunction with customer care.

21. Consequently, the post-holder may be required to perform work not specifically identified in this job profile, but which are in line with the general level of responsibilities of this post.

Other Requirements:



Full driving license (UK).

Excellent personal presentation.

Lives within commuting distance from your designated portfolio and surrounding area.

Undertake additional working hours (evenings / weekends) to meet the needs of the business as required.

Full DBS Clearance.
