We're looking for a passionate and commercially minded
Area Manager
to oversee multiple retail shops, drive income, and lead teams of staff and volunteers to success.
About the Role
As
Charity Retail Area Manager
, you'll lead, support, and inspire a team of
Shop Managers
and
volunteers
to deliver excellent performance across your area. You'll be responsible for achieving sales growth, maximising stock generation, and ensuring that each shop is safe, compliant, and thriving within its local community.
You'll also play a key role in the
growth and expansion
of our retail network -- supporting the setup of new charity shops and helping to deliver our
Retail Expansion Plan
in partnership with the Head of Retail.
This is a
hands-on operational role
-- you'll spend much of your time in the field, working with shop teams to grow income, strengthen community engagement, and deliver the charity's retail strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and motivate Shop Managers to meet and exceed sales and profit targets.
Develop strong local connections to increase stock donations and volunteer recruitment.
Support each shop to become fully integrated within its local community.
Monitor shop performance, KPIs, and budgets to ensure commercial success.
Provide cover and support in shops when required to maintain business continuity.
Recruit, train, and develop retail staff and volunteers, ensuring high engagement and performance.
Uphold charity standards and ensure compliance with all health and safety and statutory requirements.
Contribute to the wider
Retail Strategy
, working with the Head of Retail to identify new income opportunities and business growth areas.
Share best practice and foster a positive, high-performing retail culture.
About You
You'll be an experienced and driven
manager
, ideally from a
charity retail
or
commercial retail
background, with a track record of achieving sales growth and developing successful teams.
You will bring:
Proven experience managing multiple retail sites or large retail teams.
Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills.
Creativity and initiative in stock generation and community engagement.
A positive, hands-on approach with great organisational and communication skills.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Norfolk.

HOURS OF WORK
You will be contracted to work 35 hours per week , across 5 days. Flexibility is essential.
ABOUT YOU
Essential requirements:
Good standard of Maths and English.
Strong team worker with the ability to motivate a team.
Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.
Customer focused with an energetic and enthusiastic attitude.
Desirable requirements:
Working knowledge of budgets and financial reporting.
Experience working in Retail or Charity Retail.
Experience within a management or supervisory role.
Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
