Job Description

The Area Manager will oversee three OSCAHS out-of-school clubs based in Horley, Oxted and Redhill, Surrey. This strategic role ensures that each club operates in alignment with OSCAHS's values, meets and exceeds Ofsted standards, and fosters a child-led, play-centred environment. The Area Manager will provide leadership, support, and accountability to Club Managers and their teams, working closely with the Operations Director to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Management



Line manage Club Managers within the assigned area, providing regular supervision, support, and performance evaluations. Set clear objectives and targets for each club, monitoring progress and implementing improvement plans as necessary. Foster a culture of accountability, ensuring that club teams adhere to OSCAHS policies and procedures.

Quality Assurance & Compliance



Conduct regular audits of club documentation, including supervisions, training plans, appraisals, risk assessments, and safeguarding records. Ensure all clubs comply with Ofsted requirements, maintaining high standards of care and safety. Support clubs in preparing for Ofsted inspections, implementing recommendations, and addressing any areas of concern.

Staff Development & Support



Identify training needs within club teams and coordinate relevant professional development opportunities. Mentor Club Managers and Deputy Managers, promoting best practices in playwork and child-led activities. Facilitate regular team meetings and workshops to encourage knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

Stakeholder Engagement



Build and maintain positive relationships with partner schools, parents, and external agencies. Represent OSCAHS in meetings with local authorities and other professional bodies. Address and resolve any issues or concerns raised by stakeholders promptly and effectively.

Operational Oversight



Monitor club bookings, attendance, and staffing levels to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff members, ensuring they align with OSCAHS's ethos and standards.
Collaborate with the Operations Director on strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Essential Criteria



Minimum Level 3 qualification in Playwork, Early Years, or equivalent. Proven experience in managing or overseeing multiple childcare settings. In-depth knowledge of Ofsted requirements and safeguarding practices. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Salary & Benefits



Hourly Rate

: 15.00 - 16.00 per hour
