About the role Leading our shops across the Northeast, Cumbria and Yorks (currently 10 shops), as Retail Area Manager, you will be responsible for managing shops to deliver incremental year on year income uplifts, alongside embedding best practice, commercial KPIs, and the best possible supporter experiences. You will play a key role in holding Shop Managers and volunteer shop teams accountable for their shop\'s performance, inspiring them with our retail vision, using best practice, and data and evidence to influence commercial decision making. The current shops in this region include Cockermouth, Doncaster, Hexham, Matlock, Northallerton, Penrith, Sheffield, South Shields, Ulverston and Wetherby). In this role, you will:

  • Be an inspiring people leader; inspiring our teams as an ambassador for our brand and our retail strategy. Challenge mindsets and behaviours where necessary to engage and motivate teams, ensuring shop teams fully understand and engage with our aims.
  • Line manage Shop Managers including Recruitment, Retention, Development and Performance Management in line with our values and processes.
  • Work with the support of the Retail Volunteering and Communities Insights Manager to build volunteer numbers, ensuring volunteer development and training is delivered effectively.
  • Drive commerciality, maximising contribution in line with forecasted expectations, and action plan using the relevant tools and best practice to hit KPIs (Income, Expenditure, Productivity, ASP, Sell Through, Customer Service etc)
  • Make commercial decisions based on data \xe2\x80\x93 regularly analyse numbers against KPIs to inform and communicate actions.
  • Embrace handover of new propositions and model shops into business as usual, maintaining best practice and KPIs for the longer term.
About you Bringing with you significant retail and/or charity retail management experience, you\'ll be entrepreneurial and driven by results, with the ability to recognise and prioritise opportunities with the greatest potential. You\'ll have a collaborative approach and positive outlook, applying this when dealing with difficult situations, with proven experience inspiring support and action from diverse groups of people. To be successful, you will:
  • Be experienced in managing multiple sites and staff, having acted as a Regional / Area Manager in a retail environment.
  • Be experienced in driving and delivering change management.
  • Have exceptional people management skills, including strong leadership and motivational skills, ideally with some knowledge or experience of volunteer management.
  • Ideally demonstrate proven success in Community Marketing \xe2\x80\x93 Promotion / social media / Relationship Building / Networking.
  • Understanding of / ability to use Microsoft office/Sales Space Analysis/ read P&Ls and understand Gift Aid performance.
  • Be willing and able to travel to shops on a regular basis, including overnight stays where required.
