Starplan is a family run fitted bedroom retailer and manufacturer, with over 45 years experience. We are now looking for an area sales manager to help grow the business during our current expansion period, and maintain our existing high level of standards in the Northwest and Midlands regions.
We are looking for a hands on, highly motivated, sales driven applicant, with a proven track record in a direct sales or retail environment.
Role Overview
Location: West Midlands
TYPE: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: 45,000 + uncapped bonus + car allowance + benefits
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Performance
Drive and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
Oversee lead distribution and conversion, including "dead" lead recovery.
Monitor KPIs, conversion rates, and ATV; provide regular performance reports.
Authorise discounts and sign off on SPIV/fuel claims.
Team Leadership
Manage and support Team Managers and Designers through weekly 1:1s and monthly reviews.
Set clear expectations, support training, and lead performance management.
Recruit proactively and develop succession plans for future growth.
Lead training programmes for new and existing staff.
Operations & Strategy
Maintain control over lead handling and CRM system (Anthill).
Monitor store standards, staffing, and rota planning.
Weekly store visits.
Collaboration & Admin
Lead weekly team meetings and attend regular HQ sessions.
Support H&S compliance and store-level administration.
Requirements
Essential:
Proven sales track record and team management experience.
Strong negotiation, coaching, and organisational skills.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Self-motivated, target-driven, and highly adaptable.
Desirable:
Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Anthill).
Multi-site or retail environment background.
