The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have a opportunity to be part of this in the role of Area SENDCO.
The Area SENDCO role sits within the Early Years Inclusion Team as part of the wider Intervention and Prevention Service within the Children, Young People and Families Directorate. The Area SENDCO will make links between education, health and social care to facilitate appropriate early years provision for children with SEND and their transition to compulsory schooling, ensuring that identified children are included in all learning opportunities.
As Area SENDCO, you will act as a strategic link between education, health, and social care to ensure high-quality early years provision for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Support smooth transitions into compulsory education, ensuring children with identified needs are fully included in all learning opportunities. Provide expert advice, training, and challenge to early years SENDCOs and practitioners in schools and settings, helping them meet the diverse needs of children in their care. Build and maintain strong partnerships with a wide range of professionals and agencies to coordinate effective support for children, families, and settings.
In addition, you will hold the position of Manager at Seedlings Nursery, where you will act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and mentor within the nursery. Deliver safe, high-quality education and care for children aged 2-5 years, in line with statutory EYFS requirements. Champion inclusive practice and embed a neurodiversity-affirming approach across the setting. Contribute to and implement both nursery and City of Doncaster policies and procedures. Support children and families in preparing for future educational placements, working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to ensure smooth transitions.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all children in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.
