Art Teacher (SEMH)
Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting a dedicated Art Teacher for a specialist SEMH School setting based in the Blandford Forum area.
Our client is a specialist educational provision for young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. They are in need of an experienced Art Teacher, trained at primary or secondary level, to join them from September 2025 to deliver creative and therapeutic art sessions to KS3 & KS4 pupils.
With the complex needs of the students, we are looking for individuals who are capable and enthusiastic to work in a challenging but highly rewarding environment.
The successful candidate will be working with students with behavioural difficulties and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, so prior experience within this field is essential. You will be supporting the children within the community as well as in the school setting.
Vacancy Details:

  • Location: Blandford Forum, Dorset
  • Position: Art Teacher (SEMH Setting)
  • Contract: Permanent (Long-term)
  • Hours: Full-time, 8.20 am 4.00 pm
  • Start Date: January 2025
  • Pay Rate: 331,650 343,607 per annum
Experience, Training And Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Art, ideally with SEMH students.
  • A genuine passion for using creativity to engage students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Experience in developing creative and therapeutic art projects.
  • Commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive educational experience for all students.

  • Ability to inspire and engage students through creative expression
  • Able to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated art lessons
  • A team player with a calm and nurturing approach
  • Willing to work collaboratively with SEN specialists and support staff
  • Enthusiastic about the role of art in supporting emotional development
To Be Eligible For This Role Through Prospero Teaching, You Must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child-barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional references
