Are you a passionate and adaptable Art Teacher ready to inspire young minds in an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) secondary school with extremely challenging behavior? GSL Education Newcastle is seeking a dynamic individual to work with our client school in Newcastle, starting in September 2023. If you\'re dedicated to delivering engaging art education and helping students achieve academic excellence, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
As an Art Teacher in a secondary SEMH setting, your role will encompass:

  • Lesson Planning: Creating captivating lessons in art and art history that align with students\' learning goals.
  • Classroom Preparation: Organizing and setting up equipment to create an optimal learning environment.
  • Skill Development: Nurturing students\' drawing, coloring, and painting techniques, including instruction on various media such as graphite, charcoal, oil, acrylic, and watercolor.
  • Art History: Introducing students to the fascinating world of art history.
  • Assessment: Assigning and evaluating projects and examinations.
  • Progress Tracking: Maintaining records and reporting on students\' progress.
  • Classroom Maintenance: Ensuring cleanliness after each lesson.
  • Resource Management: Managing inventory and procuring art supplies as needed.
  • Engagement: Participating in faculty and parent-teacher meetings.
Requirements:
To excel in this role within an SEMH secondary school, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
  • Valid UK teaching qualification: PGCE with QTS or QTLS or working towards QTS
  • NQTs, Overseas Trained Teachers with UK work rights, and experienced Instructors are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in fine arts with teaching qualifications or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as an art teacher, preferably in a challenging behavior setting.
  • Proficiency in various art techniques.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to oversee group activities.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Supportive and adaptable nature.
  • Possession of a Child-Only Enhanced DBS on the Update service or willingness to obtain one through GSL Education.
