This is a permanent contract to start as soon as possible. The 14 hours per week would preferably be over 2 or 3 days selected from Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday, this can be discussed further at interview.

The successful applicant will have the necessary knowledge, skills and vision to be an exceptionally organised Art Technician to work within our busy STEAM Department. An appreciation of creative arts would be beneficial.

to provide technical and administrative support to Visual Arts, namely Art and Photography. Some support may be required across the wider Arts and Technologies faculty. to support lesson activities with students over the course of the year to ensure that all school displays are of a high quality, up to date and reflect the positive work and ethos of the school

Purpose of the Job



To provide technical and administrative support to Visual Arts namely Art, Photography and Art Textiles To support lesson activities with students over the course of the year To ensure that all school display is of a high quality, up to date and reflect the positive work and ethos of the school

Main Activities and Responsibilities:



Have a knowledge of art materials and their functions Prepare and maintain art tools and materials so that classrooms are stocked up and available for students and teachers to use Organise materials and equipment for lessons as required by staff Management of loan of equipment to students (eg. Cameras) Management of sale of materials and resources to students Checking the availability of suitable materials and equipment, including keeping stock levels to defined limits and/or substituting suitable materials where necessary and appropriate Safe transit of equipment and materials between preparation areas and work areas Erection and dismantling of practical equipment, cleaning and return to storage that meets both safety standards and the requirements of the teacher The safe storage, retrieval and accessibility to equipment and materials Create practical resources for the Art Department, alongside providing assistance and advice in lessons to support the practical needs of the curriculum Organise and maintain resources Ensure resources are easily accessible Provide technical assistance, practical support and information as required in the preparation and use of equipment and materials for learning including digital technologies Promote 'best practice' through sharing subject specific skills with students and teachers as part of their on-going professional development
Ensure that display throughout the school reflects the school's work and ethos. This will include:

Mounting and displaying student work both in classrooms and corridors Maintain and update high quality whole school display Maintaining stocks of materials for backing, mounting work etc and ensuring safe storage of equipment and materials and the disposal of waste products in accordance with the relevant regulations, guidelines and school procedures. Under the general direction of Subject Leaders take a lead role in the design, development and maintenance of displays. Support and maintain curriculum display, and help with preparations for the annual art exhibition, framing, mounting and displaying art work To maintain and undertake reasonable repairs to display where practical to do so or to arrange for alternative displays. Regularly document work created within the visual arts to use in display and VLE Assist in the preparation, transit and hanging of work for internal and external exhibitions and events. Manage the ordering system, placing orders and keeping paperwork Creation of physical resources Photocopy visual resources for teaching Support staff with administrative tasks Manage the tracking, ordering and storage of tools and materials Ensure stock is kept well organised and the stock book maintained
