A highly creative and innovative Secondary School in Bristol is looking to appoint a passionate and highly organised Art Technician for a January start. This dynamic Art Department offers students access to a broad curriculum that includes Fine Art, Photography, Textiles, Digital Art, Ceramics, and Printmaking, making it an exciting environment for a technician who thrives in hands-on, creative spaces.
The Art Technician will play a vital role in supporting teachers and students across KS3-KS5 by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, supporting practical lessons, setting up exhibitions, managing art resources, and overseeing the organisation of studios and specialist spaces such as darkrooms, textile rooms, and digital editing suites. The department frequently hosts showcases, exhibitions, and collaborative projects with local artists, giving the technician ample opportunities to be directly involved in large-scale creative events.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Art & Design--whether through technical experience, a creative qualification, or practical studio skills. You will be responsible for helping students manage materials, demonstrating processes where appropriate, maintaining stock, organising printmaking presses, kilns, photographic equipment, and ensuring the smooth running of practical workshops. The role is incredibly varied and perfect for someone who can balance practical, organisational, and creative tasks.
Key Requirements:

• Experience in Fine Art, Photography, Textiles, Ceramics, or general Art & Design.
• Strong organisational and studio-management abilities.
• Confidence preparing resources and supporting practical lessons.
• Ability to contribute to exhibitions, displays, and department organisation.
