Job Description

A creative, ambitious, and forward-thinking secondary school in Ipswich is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Art Technician to support their dynamic Art & Design department for an immediate start. This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys working with young people, thrives in a practical hands-on environment, and has a genuine passion for the arts.
Role Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide essential support to the Art teachers and students across a full range of artistic disciplines including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, photography, and mixed media. You will prepare materials and equipment ahead of lessons, ensure studios and workspaces are organised and safe, assist staff with demonstrations, and help maintain a wide assortment of classroom resources.
Further responsibilities include:
Preparing resources, paints, papers, clay, tools, and equipment in advance of lessons
Maintaining, cleaning, and organising specialist tools, sinks, drying racks, and storage areas
Monitoring stock levels, ordering materials, and updating department inventory
Supporting students during practical sessions by helping them understand tools and processes
Assisting with GCSE coursework organisation and photographing student work where required
Curating corridor and classroom displays that showcase student artwork
Supporting the organisation of exhibitions, open evenings, and showcase events
Helping maintain digital records, online portfolios, and departmental admin tasks
