We are now seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and compassionate

ASN Coordinator

to join our team and lead on the provision of additional support needs within our nursery.

Purpose of the Role



The ASN Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that children with additional support needs are fully supported to access and benefit from the nursery's learning environment. This role involves working closely with families, staff, and external agencies to develop, implement, and review strategies and support plans tailored to individual children.

Key Responsibilities



Child-Centred Support



Develop, implement, and monitor individual support plans (ISPs) in collaboration with families and professionals. Carry out regular observations and assessments to identify children's needs, strengths, and progress. Provide one-to-one and small group support where required. Champion an inclusive approach, ensuring all children are fully integrated into the life of the nursery.

Staff Development



Support and mentor colleagues in understanding and meeting the needs of children with ASN. Deliver training and guidance to staff teams on strategies, resources, and best practice. Promote a culture of inclusion and positive behaviour support across the nursery.

Family Engagement



Build strong, supportive relationships with families, offering guidance and reassurance. Facilitate regular review meetings with parents/carers to discuss progress and adapt support plans. Ensure that families feel valued, listened to, and actively involved in their child's learning journey.

Partnership Working



Liaise with health visitors, speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals. Act as the key point of contact for external agencies, ensuring smooth communication and consistency of support. Contribute to multi-agency meetings and reviews.

Compliance & Administration



Ensure documentation, plans, and reports are up to date and in line with GIRFEC (Getting it Right for Every Child) principles. Keep accurate records of interventions, progress, and communication. Ensure all practice reflects current legislation, Care Inspectorate guidance, and nursery policies.

Person Specification



Essential



SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent (SVQ 4 / HNC / BA Childhood Practice desirable). Experience working directly with children with additional support needs. Strong understanding of GIRFEC, ASN legislation, and inclusive practice. Excellent communication skills with children, families, colleagues, and professionals. Ability to adapt practice to meet a wide range of needs. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential.

Desirable



Experience in delivering training or mentoring staff. Previous experience in a coordinator or leadership role. Additional qualifications in ASN, autism support, speech and language, or behaviour management.

Pay: 28,000.00-30,000.00 per year
