Assembly Team Leader

Manufacturing / Assembly Team Leader from a Manufacturing, 1-tier automotive, Automotive, Aerospace, Off highway Vehicle or similar OEM.

\xc2\xa336,174 salary, working a 2 day shift system, 26 days holiday + BH, company profit related bonus, Private Medical (after qualifying period), amazing pension scheme and death in service x 4 annual salary.

Assembly Team Leader role:

We are looking for an experienced Team leader to lead our Fitting & Assembly area. Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, you will effectively manage and motivate your team to meet planned volume. You will lead by example, ensuring daily targets of H&S, Delivery, Quality and Cost are met. You are a team player that leads from the front and removes obstacles as and when they come along. Learning from yesterday\'s lessons you will reflect on losses, adapt, and improve.

Assembly Team Leader Responsibilities and duties:

  • H&S is always first - ensure you, your team and your work area are applying safe systems of work and working safely.
  • Working in line with the production plan, ensuring you and your team are achieving daily, weekly, monthly production targets within designated time frames.
  • Dealing with H&S, Quality, Manning and Part Shortage issues efficiently on the line, ensuring production processes continue.
  • Know all processes within the area, so training, cover and support can be given at any time - be the expert.
  • Ensure correct PPE is being used and SOPs & VA\'s are being followed.
  • Ensure your line is clean, tidy and clutter free. A place for everything, everything in its place.
  • Act as a go between in production, to ensure that production keeps moving, taking away disturbances from the processes and resolving them efficiently, before it stops the process.
  • Train the team to VA & SOPs in your area, as they become available, ensuring all are up to date and current.
  • Playing an active part in Continuous Improvement you will work with the CI department to identify areas of improvement and assist with the implementation of new procedures/processes.
  • Carry out daily communication with your team including team meetings, toolbox talks etc.
  • Quickly and efficiently address and resolve issues which may cause downtime, ensuring any downtime is logged and reported.
  • Acting as a role model for best practice, you will ensure that your working practices and the working practices of your team comply with company health, safety, quality, and production policies and procedures at all times.
  • Create a training plan to ensure that staff can be rotated to cover absence. Rotation of position for cover is crucial to the continuity of the production line.
Assembly Team Leader Ideal background:
  • A strong background in Assembly work is essential either in Automotive or Off highway vehicles.
  • Experience of long cycle processes is a distinct advantage.
  • The Team Leader role will be demanding, you must be able to work on your own initiative and make decisions based on the information you have around you.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with other departments (Quality/Engineering/Logistics/etc).
  • You should demonstrate an awareness of HS&E (Health, Safety and Environmental) requirements within a production environment.
  • You should have the capability to motivate, train and coach members of your team.
  • You will be a self-starter who is able to lead a team, and a proven track record of leading teams of 15-20+ members.
  • You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with a strong commitment to quick and efficient resolution of problems.
  • You will have a flexible approach and be able to deal with changing priorities.
