Brief Description





Network Rail are looking for an Asset Engineer with a focus on Geotechnics to join one of our Southern Region, based out of Puddle Dock in London. This is a diverse role that will make use of your geotechnical, civil or structural engineering background and you will be responsible for examination, assessment and monitoring of earthworks to deliver compliance against company standards. You will also support the production of route asset management and investment plans.


As well as generous pension offerings and 75% discounts on corporate and leisure rail travel, this role also qualifies for a London based location allowance.

About the role (External)





Key Accountabilities

+ Lead the requirements for examination and undertake evaluation, assessment and risk management of geotechnical assets. Manage compliance of examination and evaluation of geotechnical assets against requirements of standards. + Provide engineering input to the standards and specifications for earthworks examinations and assessments.
+ Maintain comprehensive and accurate asset records.
+ Direct the implementation of monitoring systems and undertake the review of monitoring results and other control measures.
+ Support the development of route specific plans including all maintenance and renewal activities and asset strategies, providing the prioritised investment work bank. Support the inclusion of all investment items into appropriate programmes and track through to completion including approval of programme changes.
+ Provide support to the production and prioritisation of the route business plan. Support the Senior Earthworks and Drainage Management Engineer in producing remits for investment schemes.
+ Provide engineering input to the specification and management of geotechnical and drainage examination contracts. Investigate and resolve technical and quality issues with suppliers.
+ Liaise with community relations to support the resolution of geotechnical and drainage issues impacting on neighbours and third parties.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

+ HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent geotechnical qualification. + Substantial experience of geotechnical asset examination and assessment
+ An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
+ Awareness of Construction Design and Management Regulations
+ Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution

Desirable

+ Degree in a relevant subject + Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer
+ Member of a relevant professional institution


Salary

: 43,588 to 51,719 plus office location Inner London Allowance of 3,270.
The salary package also includes:


75% off rail travel for you and your partner Public sector boosted pension Private healthcare Annual performance based bonus

Closing date

This role requires working in the office 3 days per week.
