Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic finance team based in Bristol. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this role offers the chance to support key financial processes and contribute to the effective running of the wider business.
This position is ideal for someone who is currently studying towards AAT, recently qualified, or qualified by experience, and looking to progress their career within a supportive and professional environment.
Role & Responsibilities

• Managing customer and supplier ledgers within the accounting system.
• Performing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
• Assisting with project setup, invoicing, and ad-hoc billing.
• Processing supplier invoices, credit card transactions, and employee expenses.
• Preparing and executing regular payment runs.
• Reconciling customer and supplier accounts, resolving discrepancies, and chasing outstanding approvals.
• Responding to invoice, purchase order, supplier, and employee queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Supporting the wider team in presenting complex financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in a similar finance or accounting role.
• A recognised accounting qualification (e.g. AAT) or relevant equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with colleagues across all levels of the business.
