The Accounts Assistant role is responsible for providing support to the finance department, ensuring the smooth running of accounting operations. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, managing expenses, and assisting with month-end and year-end tasks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple financial tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
:
Bank Reconciliations
: Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
: Process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and verifying receipts.
Financial Record Keeping
: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, filing documents for easy retrieval and audit purposes.
Monthly management accounts
: Assist with month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
VAT Returns
: Preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.
Ad Hoc Reporting
: Provide financial reports and analysis as requested by the finance team or management.
Assistance with Audits
: Support the finance team during internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to queries.
Credit card expenses
: Process credit card expenses and reconciliation
Payroll:
Monthly payroll processing Sage payroll
CIS returns :
Compiling and submitting monthly returns
General Administrative Duties
: Perform other general finance-related administrative tasks, such as answering finance queries, managing correspondence, and supporting the wider finance team.
Key Requirements
:
Education
: AAT qualification or working towards ACCA or CIMA
Experience
: minimum 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
Skills
:
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Confident and experienced user of Microsoft Excel, able to handle formulas and create spreadsheets as and when required.
Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
Proficiency in Sage 50 Professional and Sage Payroll.
Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
