Job Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Assistant Accountant to support our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, familiarity with various financial software, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in corporate, non-profit, and governmental accounting environments, contributing to accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Duties



Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Perform account reconciliations including bank, general ledger, and subsidiary ledgers such as accounts receivable and payable. Manage journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting processes. Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing. Conduct financial analysis and interpret financial reports to inform management decisions. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to ensure sound financial management. Maintain accurate records within accounting software such as Xero. Support regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance Collaborate with team members to ensure accuracy and compliance. Provide mentorship to junior staff or interns when applicable, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Skills



Proficiency in accounting software including Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems. Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits. Experience with financial statement preparation, reconciliation processes, and regulatory reporting. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and reports. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Effective communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation.

Essentials:



Finalist (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with 4 years of experience Previous experience in similar role Strong understanding of financial principles and reporting standards Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting software High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines Proactive mindset with an interest in process improvement
