Assistant Accountant Position

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled

Assistant Accountant

to join our finance team on a part-time basis (initially 3 x 1/2 days per week). This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who can support the main accountant and take responsibility for a wide range of accounting duties, up to audited accounts when required. You will play a vital role in maintaining accurate, up-to-date, and compliant financial records, while gradually increasing hours and taking on increased responsibility as the main accountant reduces their hours to prepare for retirement.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts. Maintain accurate bookkeeping and reconcile ledgers. Run monthly payroll (training provided) Knowledge and understanding of processes and provide cover for accounts payable and receivable. Prepare and assist with month-end accounts to include Journals and Nominal Ledger reconciliations. Work alongside the main accountant, taking responsibility for accounting tasks as they reduce hours and prepare for retirement. Support financial reporting and analysis for business decisions.

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounting, ideally within an automotive or similar sector. Competence in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of payroll preferred. Knowledge of VAT and statutory reporting preferred but not essential. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and take responsibility for tasks. Flexible and reliable, able to cover for the main accountant as required.

Working Arrangement:
