About the role:

Speedy Freight, a fast-expanding same-day courier and logistics provider, is growing across the United States, and we're looking for a proactive, detail-driven Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team based in Knutsford.

This is a brand-new role and an exciting opportunity to develop your finance career while helping shape the financial processes of our expanding U.S. operations. You'll work closely with finance, operations, and other key stakeholders to ensure smooth day-to-day financial activity and accurate reporting.

What You'll Do:

Raise, reconcile and process customer & supplier invoices accurately and on time, working with the operations team to resolve queries Complete daily account reconciliations, including intercompany and balance sheet control accounts Prepare journals and support month-end reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations and commentary Assist with daily cash flow reporting and contribute to weekly/monthly management reports Support year-end audit preparation and compliance tasks Assist with weekly commission statements Identify opportunities for process improvement and support new business initiatives as we scale

What We're Looking For:

Experience in a finance or accounting support role Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Confident communicator with strong relationship building skills Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be advantageous) Accounting certifications (e.g., AAT) or relevant coursework Experience working within a growing or scaling business would be highly beneficial
