36.5 hours, Monday - Friday
What you need to know about the role
You will be providing accounting and financial support, notably the production of regular standardised financial reports and other analysis to facilitate reviews of business performance and support other key business decisions.
You will work closely with the rest of the finance team to ensure consistent best practice is developed and maintained across the function.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Northern Mills Accountant with day to day activities
Complete Weekly and Monthly Production Evaluation Performance Models to the required deadline.
Analyse Mill performance and cost drivers utilising variance analysis (e.g. energy, labour, yield).
Business Partner and collaborate with operations teams improve performance and efficiencies.
Monitor and evaluate WIP and finished goods inventory, ensuring correct valuation recording
Perform monthly stock reconciliations for Steel Inventory to validate balances and resolve any discrepancies.
Attend weekly / monthly finance meetings with the operations teams to provide financial insight to help drive decision making
Monitor and control Distribution stock value in SAP
Produce monthly Balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with Financial audit as and when required
Develop an understanding of the businesses product costs
Carry out/manage any other projects or tasks as requested by the FD or Plant Manager from time to time
What we need to know about you
Essential Criteria:
The ideal candidate will be a strong part-qualified accountant with demonstrable experience in financial reporting and month-end preparation.
They will be proficient in preparing balance sheet reconciliations and have hands-on experience using financial systems from an end-user perspective.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
Strong Microsoft Office skills are required, particularly in Excel.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working in a dynamic and changeable environment.
We are looking for someone who is approachable, has a positive attitude, and works well as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria:
A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred.
Ideally, the candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA or ACCA).
Experience in budget preparation and financial planning activities is desirable.
Familiarity with SAP or similar financial systems would be advantageous.
A good understanding of best practice finance processes is beneficial.
