Salary range: 37,692 - 39,276 p.a. inc. London weighting


Contract: Permanent


Hours of work: 36 hours per week


Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time


Assistant Analyst in the Public Health Evidence & Insight team

The Post

You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team, helping to deliver high-quality analysis and visualisations. This post is part of the Public Health Evidence & Insight team, which helps operational teams to gain more sophisticated insight into the needs and experiences of our residents, design and deliver lasting improvements across our services, and robustly monitor and improve performance and quality.


We use a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies to understand current and future needs of our population - from delivering a more dynamic Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), to giving a granular understanding of the experience of those accessing specific services within the borough.


The postholder will support the rest of the team by applying data science methods to a wide range of projects spanning from understanding unmet need, service evaluations, and exploring resident's views and behaviours. In addition to data collection and analyses, the postholder, with the help from the of the team, will be expected to work collaboratively with stakeholders to synthesise data and disseminate findings by creating compelling stories.


The Person

We are seeking an analyst with strong data science skills and a passion for generating research and evidence to improve health and tackle local health inequalities. You will be motivated, inquiring, and thrive on working with complex datasets to uncover insights.


The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator; someone who is happy to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and quickly build credibility and rapport. You will be at the beginning of your career (or your analytics career if you have recently changed career) and you are looking for a role that will help you grow as an analyst. You'll be keen to learn how to articulate the nub of an issue, to succinctly distil a wide-ranging evidence base, and how to explain these simply to a wide range of audiences. You'll be a creative thinker; keen to learn and explore new approaches.
