Assistant Archivist Plants and Empire Project

Due to Archives Revealed funding from The National Archives, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a project archivist to join our team, helping to unlocking our historical archive and make it more available in new inclusive ways to new audiences. This will be achieved through the cataloguing of personal archives of individuals involved in botany in the British Empire, and a series of co-designed Community workshops led by arts facilitators. The archivist will also co-curate a small exhibition and booklet about how Communities can access and use Kew's archives. There will be potential to participate in other outreach activities at Kew, including Kew's Community Open Week.



An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

With a postgraduate qualification in archives management or equivalent experience in a paid position, you will have demonstrable experience of cataloguing archives into archive software, in a professional post and comprehensive understanding of the relevant standards. You will have experience of working with the general public and the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and time management skills. You will be committed to making archive collections accessible, and to inclusive and ethical archive practice.



Interviews are due to take place on 2 October.

The salary will be 32,900 - 34,500 per annum [Band C]
