The role:


The main purpose of this role is to support the Audit Manager in the delivery of audit assignments in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice, to provide assurance to senior management on the effectiveness of the control environment within St. James's Place plc ("the Group"), as well as identifying opportunities to enhance the efficiency of business processes.


The primary role of Internal Audit is to help the Board and Executive Management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the Group. Internal Audit's objective is therefore to drive continuous improvement in these areas by assessing and reporting on the overall effectiveness of the risk management, control and governance processes across the Group and by appropriately challenging Executive Management to improve the effectiveness of these processes.


What you'll be doing:


Assist the Audit Manager in planning and delivering audits to a high quality and in compliance with the Division's methodology, professional standards and industry benchmarks. In particular, under the guidance and oversight of the Audit Manager:

Undertake sections of planning with minimal support, taking ownership of scope areas from initial planning through to findings. Carry out and document process walkthroughs, identifying areas of risk. Develop test plans to investigate and test the operation of key controls within the audit scope. Carry out controls testing with minimal support, ensuring that the audit outcome is robust and all findings are clearly documented on Teammate. Clearly document all relevant planning and fieldwork sections within Teammate, taking ownership of own documentation quality and audit robustness prior to Audit Manager review and sign off. Engage with stakeholders, throughout the audit, to ensure they are kept up-to-date. Perform work with honesty and professional courage.

Who we're looking for:


Essential Criteria


You will have a good level of experience of MS Excel, MS Word and SharePoint. You will be keen to build your expertise and practical experience of internal audit methodology and process. Specific accounting qualifications are not needed but a degree background in Finance or Economics would be advantageous Someone who is able to work in our Cirencester office 2 days a week Excellent communication skills

Nice to have skills

Knowledge of the financial services industry and working in a regulated company will be beneficial. Ideally you will have knowledge and understanding of regulation, risk and control in a financial services environment.

Special Requirements:


Role will be based in Cirencester with occasional travel required
