About the role


------------------


The Assistant Building Technician responsibility is to help maintain and develop the high quality of facilities and spaces within the Department, and to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the Department in both its South Kensington and White City campus spaces. Supporting the whole Department, the post holder works closely with technical, academic and administrative staff, liaising with staff in other areas of College as necessary to seek specialist support.


What you would be doing


---------------------------


General Office Management oBe the key contact with users and estates facilities to lead on maintenance of overall quality/integrity of Departmental offices, labs and communal space oResolve enquiries from staff and students on building-related issues oDeputise when required to distribute and manage departmental keys oOrganise clearances and cleaning on leaving of staff or research students (in academic and shared offices) Refurbs/moves oReport/organise minor works and Departmental space refurbishment oSafely and independently carry out minor Departmental maintenance activities, such as: painting, installation of wall mounted displays, assembly and installation of furnishings. oAssist in the use and care of apparatus, instruments and equipment and routine preparation work, including access, lifting and moving equipment Other duties oAs required assist the technical team with deliveries, including high value scientific equipment oAssist the technical team as required on minor laboratory works, for example installation of shelving etc. oAdvise as necessary on manual handling risk assessments


What we are looking for

You must be educated to A level or equivalent vocational qualification and have experience in: Experience of delivering a customer-facing service Experience in the Higher Education sector Experience of project planning/project management or working as part of a team Experience of managing space, such as offices, workshops or labs Experience of using spreadsheets, databases and data in formats that can be manipulated to provide management information and reports
