To undertake a range of caretaking duties including assisting the Site Manager with the security and supervision of the site and related equipment, and other duties including porterage, cleaning and maintenance.
Cover Site Manager annual leave.
Core Responsibilities and tasks
Act as a key holder, carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds and the routine and non-routine opening of premises and grounds.
Responding to emergency calls outside normal working hours in the absence of the Site Manager.
Deal with enquiries from external contractors on site.
Undertake additional cleaning to support the Cleaners.
Carry out general first line repairs redecoration and maintenance.
Take delivery of stocks and materials for the school.
Carry out porterage within school, move furniture and equipment, as required, assist in setting up for assembly's events etc.
Assist the Site Manager to ensure that adequate supplies of cleaning materials and other supplies are available.
Operate the heating plant.
Assist the Site Manager with ensuring that all caretaking and cleaning equipment is in a safe and working condition and arranging for repair as appropriate.
Assist the Site Manager in carrying out routine procedures or checks on ancillary equipment.
Assist school staff in carrying out school based emergency procedures e.g. in the event of fire.
Assist with letting related duties where required.
Prepare the school premises and site for out of school activities.
Report any damage and assist in organising any necessary repairs.
Ensure that access and main areas are safe.

3 hours per day (2.45pm to 5.45pm)

*When covering Site Manager annual leave your working day will be expected to change to cover the Site Managers role. This consists of a split shift, 7am until 10 am then 2.00pm until 6pm. You will be paid an additional 4 hours per day when undertaking this cover.
Personal Qualities/Qualifications
Good levels of literacy, numeracy and computer skills. Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to maintain confidentiality. The ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. A positive attitude, demonstrating flexibility and good-humour. Experience of working in a school environment would be beneficial but not essential. Any experience or qualifications in a skilled trade such as joinery or plumbing (for example) would also be welcomed. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
