The Assistant Caretaker at Regents Park Community College plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-functioning school environment that supports effective teaching, learning, and the wellbeing of all pupils and staff. Key Responsibilities and Duties
Facilities Maintenance and Upkeep
Carry out routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs across the school site, including classrooms, communal areas, and the swimming pool facility.
Ensure that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are clean, safe, and in good working order.
Monitor and report any larger maintenance or safety issues to the Caretaker or Facilities Manager.
Assist with setting up and dismantling furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
Health, Safety, and Security
Support the Facilities Manager in ensuring the school site is secure, including locking and unlocking buildings as required.
Conduct regular site checks to identify and report hazards, promoting a safe environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Assist in maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
Support the management and safe use of the swimming pool area in accordance with school policies.
Operational Support
Provide general assistance in the management of deliveries, waste disposal, and recycling within the school.
Support the Facilities Manager in maintaining stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests during the school day and as required by the flexible working pattern.
Participate in manual handling and lifting duties following health and safety guidelines.
Working Pattern
Work Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year, with a flexible pattern to meet the operational needs of the school.
Provide cover and support during school holidays or out-of-hours as required, ensuring continuous site management.

Safeguarding
The Assistant Caretaker is a key member of the school community and plays an important role in safeguarding pupils. Responsibilities include:
Being vigilant and aware of any safeguarding concerns while on site, including the safety of pupils in all areas of the school, including the swimming pool.
Reporting any concerns about pupil welfare or safety immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in line with the school's safeguarding policy.
Supporting the school's commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for all pupils and staff.
Undertaking safeguarding training as required and adhering to all statutory safeguarding guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Prevent duty.
By fulfilling these safeguarding duties, the Assistant Caretaker contributes to the holistic wellbeing of pupils and the overall safe operation of Regents Park Community College.
