Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Civic Centre and other locations from time to time
Help to deliver as part of Brent's busy Procurement team

The Post
This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional to work in partnership with stakeholders and key strategic advisors on the delivery of major procurement projects as well as manage end-to-end procurement processes and support on complex procurement projects.
What You'll Do:

  • Provide excellent strategic procurement advice with oversight and direction from the Category Manager to the relevant Department.
  • Apply the tools and techniques of strategic sourcing to achieve business outcomes through sound market analysis, commercial acumen and strategy formulation, resulting in improved quality of services and/or financial savings - and, in all cases, value for money
  • Lead (with guidance from the Category Manager) on complex projects, managing multi-disciplined teams to achieve a common outcome and to provide guidance and supervision to Procurement Officers assigned to support projects.
  • Ensure that the council's procurement processes meet key legislative and policy requirements.
  • Ensure all council's procurement processes meet the key objectives set out in the current Procurement Strategy
  • With oversight, to manage and take full ownership for a particular category area or range of categories as delegated by the Category Manager or Head of Procurement, embedding category management principles and building stakeholder relationships
The Person
What We're Looking For:
  • Strong understanding of public e-tendering and procurement regulations, including a recent working knowledge of The Procurement Act 2023.
  • Previous experience in housing, construction or regeneration procurement projects
  • Ability to plan and prioritise tasks for self and others in overall project management context
  • Excellent stakeholder and project management skills.
  • Expert knowledge of strategic sourcing tools and techniques
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders in writing and face to face. Ability to challenge senior stakeholders effectively, using a range of techniques as appropriate.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and a passion for learning.
