Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and reliable
Assistant Chef
to join our kitchen team at
Bryn Celyn Care Home in Maesteg
. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will help prepare and serve nutritious meals that meet the dietary, medical, and personal needs of our residents.
This is a
full-time position
, and while full-time hours are currently available,
further flexibility can be discussed at interview
.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef with planning, preparing and serving balanced, nutritious meals
Cater for individual dietary requirements, including allergies, medical needs and personal preferences
Ensure meals are attractively presented and served on time
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen and food storage areas
Support stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering of supplies
Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and COSHH regulations
Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and care staff to enhance residents' dining experience
Provide kitchen cover in the absence of the Head Chef when required
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in a kitchen or catering role (care home or healthcare setting desirable)
Basic knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs, and portion control
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above preferred)
A positive, flexible, and proactive team player
Good communication and time management skills
A genuine interest in working within a care environment and supporting resident wellbeing
