As the successful candidate your responsibilities will be:

oTo ensure all site commissioning and installation activities are carried out to the highest standards of Health, Safety and Quality and in a manner that safeguards the environment.

oTo ensure that all site commissioning activities are undertaken in full compliance with GE Grid and client policies and procedures, in addition to the UK and international legislation.

oTo test, commission and service installed primary and secondary equipment during construction and in-service substation operations.

oTo effectively execute projects in line with client and GE expectations, programmes and budgets.


oTo ensure accurate on-site test records, reports and quality documentation are created, maintained and circulated in accordance with GE internal governance and GE quality plans.

oTo effectively work alongside other assigned staff as part of a team to successfully deliver projects.

oAble to travel throughout UK and globally as and when required.

oAble to work on offshore windfarms.

Responsibilities:

Promotes safe working practices and continual improvement in site safely culture.

Responsible for the effective and efficient testing and commissioning of substation equipment ensuring that agreed work is carried out in accordance with the pre-set time scales and budgets.

Execution of day-to-day commissioning activities to successfully achieve on time delivery of assigned projects.

Preparation, creation and issue of site documentation including but not limited to RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement), NCR's (Non-conformance Report), TQ's (Technical Queries) in accordance with approved processes and procedures.

Communicating site non-compliances and or deviations to the Site Manager & Project Engineer.

Reports to the Site Manager / Project Manager and Commissioning Manager.

Assisting with commissioning activities to an agreed programme and to pre-set time scales and budgets.

Skills & Experience:

Basic experience in the testing and commissioning of HV power systems equipment.

Basic experience in activities related to the testing and validation of an equipment, facility or plant in accordance with the design objectives or specifications for operational use.

Basic understanding in SCADA systems as well as technical skills using PC / DS Agile/ Aview software.

Site experience, working at height and working in a construction environment.

Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally.

Demonstrated years' of experience in testing and commissioning of substation equipment (Generation, transmission and distribution).

Basic experience of working in a HV substation environments.

Basic knowledge & understanding of GE Micom and Multilin products will be an added advantage.

Familiarity of working with any of the various test equipment such as Omicron, Sverker, Programma and Megger.
