Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Cook to support our cafe operations at The Undercroft. This role is vital in ensuring our visitors enjoy quality food and service in a warm, welcoming setting. The position is based in the heart of Edinburgh, contributing to our mission of community building and hospitality.

Responsibilities

complete all tasks safely, as instructed, and in accordance with Food Safety legislation - ensure requirements and consistent standards are maintained at all times preparation of food operation and cleaning of barista coffee machine food service and cleaning in cafe, cleaning of kitchen as prescribed by cleaning rota assist with control and management of stock assist with front of house when necessary and learn how to serve at the counter any other tasks as directed by the Head of Cafe Operations arrive in the building ready to start work at the agreed time, neatly dressed in clean uniform and hygienically presented

Skills/Abilities

Ability to:

communicate clearly with a wide range of people including volunteers and customers work responsibly under supervision, completing tasks as directed by the Head of Cafe Operations work under pressure and on own initiative take pride in the achievement of high standards and improving results read a recipe and adapt quantities of Ingredients as required

Desirable

But not essential:

experience in catering/hospitality experience of working with people with additional support needs

Days/Hours

Five days a week - no weekend work. 9am - 3pm Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week.
