We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cook to join our catering team. The Assistant Cook will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff in meal preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of our restaurant. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for food and a desire to learn and grow within the culinary field. Level 3 and previous experience of catering for large numbers is essential.
Responsibilities
Assist in the ordering and preparation of meals according to established recipes and standards.
Help with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and marinating ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Support the head cook in cooking and plating dishes.
Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages.
Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.
Skills
Previous experience in a kitchen or care home environment is essential.
Basic culinary skills, including knowledge of meal preparation techniques.
Understanding of food safety standards and practices.
