- Assisting and covering days off and holidays for the head chef, preparing and cooking meals for Service Users
- Help with meal preparation, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and measuring ingredients, home baking, etc.
- Assist in creating menu items and developing new recipes and ordering food supplies
- Ensure that all food is prepared and presented in accordance with company standards and service users dietary requirements
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen area
- Follow all safety and infection control procedures and policies.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations in line with company policies and procedures
Preferred Requirements:
- SVQ/NVQ Certificate in Cookery or Equivalent would be an advantage
- Previous experience working in a care home environment would be an advantage including having an awareness of and an understanding of the preparation of fortified foods for special dietary requirements
- Knowledge of Environmental Health and Food Safety Standards, i.e. HACCP Systems, Cooksafe, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills to provide all meals at a high standard
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Flexibility to work a 7 day rota including weekends
