Salary: Base salary: 32,050pa to c.37,700pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Assistant Cost Manager at HS2 the primary purpose of the Assistant Cost Manager role is to support the Senior Cost Manager at Contract level. This includes supporting the management of budgets, actual costs, forecasts and Earned Value Management (EVM) to support the successful delivery of HS2.


About the role:



Support on the analysis and verification of contract level cost performance and ensure the data accurately reflects the current programme performance for onwards reporting. Support on the validation of cost performance data submitted by delivery teams to the programme team as part of communicating overall programme performance. Assist with the production of contract level performance reports to communicate current performance to the programme team, including; Earned Value Management (EVM), forecasted costs and EAC pressures. Assist the Senior Cost Manager with the implementation of cost performance processes and procedures across the respective programme and also, for storing and maintaining data and documents accurately within the corporate systems. Assist the Project Controls Managers on cost performance and liaise with contractor teams to support the successful delivery of the HS2 project. Support the continuous improvement of the Cost Performance function within the programme. Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You:



Skills:



Ability to work with stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, and a willingness to work across business areas where needed. Experienced in the use of Microsoft applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Willingness to learn to use database systems (e.g. Prism, Ecosys, etc.) Ability to provide attention to detail at all times plus problem solving abilities. Interpersonal skills - communicate effectively with people at all levels within HS2 Ltd and beyond. Able to analyse and interpret data and produce accurate, timely and informative reports in multiple formats targeted to the needs of the audience.

Knowledge:



Knowledge of MS Excel Ability to learn how Project Controls, Commercial and Finance processes operate within complex organisations Willing to gain commercial awareness of multiple construction contract types (including, NEC contracts, amendments, early warning notices and the work flows of communications between contractor and client) and their respective benefits to client organisations. Basic knowledge of the core Project Controls disciplines, including; Schedule Management, Change Management and Risk Management.

Basic level experience of Cost Management activities Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, improving processes and guidance to support project delivery. Presentation, communication skills.
