Assistant, Cultural Property (MCP21-1)

Contract: Fixed term until 30 June 2024, working 17.5 hours per week (Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)

Salary: \xc2\xa324,503 (pro rata) per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Location: Manchester or Birmingham (The role will be based at the office base listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members if the team, normally 1-2 days a week)

The Museums and Cultural Property team has a range of national responsibilities that support the strategic development of museums and works with the cultural sector in securing, sustaining, preserving, advocating for and enabling access to collections in support of Arts Council\xe2\x80\x99s Strategy Let\xe2\x80\x99s Create.

You will assist with the effective running of the Museums and Cultural Property team and delivery of its statutory functions in accordance with Arts Council England\xe2\x80\x99s Agreement with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. These functions include Acceptance in Lieu & the Cultural Gifts Schemes; the Export Licencing Unit; the Government Indemnity Scheme; the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Arts; and National Security Advice.

You will work primarily with the Export Licensing Unit but will be expected to work flexibly across the team as required. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of working in a customer-facing environment, resolving queries from a wide range of people, and receiving and processing applications, preferably as a member of a small, busy team.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly organised and have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines. You will also have good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively in a team environment.
