What we are looking for -
We are looking for someone with excellent Scottish Gaelic language skills and knowledge of Gaelic heritage and culture to join our Published Collections team. You will work with colleagues and with our incredible collections to support research and widen public engagement with Gaelic culture, working across the centuries from our earliest Scottish Gaelic texts to current publications. This permanent full-time post is a fantastic opportunity to work with an internationally significant collection, bringing historic and current Gaelic texts to brand new audiences and uncovering new stories and connections for readers and researchers to explore.
What we can offer you -
If you are successful, you will be working for one of Scotland's premier cultural institutions, a library that holds the nation's memory in its vast collections. You'll have the opportunity to work flexibly, where the service allows, and we'll provide you with training and development opportunities. We have generous annual leave and offer a pension scheme. And of course, you'll join a team of great colleagues.
You can contact Patrick Hart (p.hart@nls.uk) if you have any questions about the post. The full job descriptions in Gaelic and English can be found at the bottom of the page along with the advert in Gaelic.
Please answer the 3 application questions in English if possible.
We encourage applications from people who belong to marginalised communities particularly people of colour, those from a working class background, disabled and LGBTQ+ people.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 16th November 2025. It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 4th or 5th December.
