We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Deputy Head Chef to to work within our kitchen management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our commercial food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality and safety, and managing kitchen operations efficiently.
Job Role Summary:
Day to day you'll be working in our modern, well equipped commercial catering kitchen, based in Shoreham-By-Sea. You'll be part of the kitchen management assisting with the organisation, preparation and production of a high volume of homemade main meals, teas, and desserts.
Duties
Lead and supervise the kitchen team, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth daily operations
Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation expectations
Manage food preparation processes, including planning menus and sourcing ingredients
Cook and prepare a variety of dishes, in line with our recipe cards, maintaining consistency in flavour and presentation
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene within the kitchen
Organise and monitor team performance
Collaborate with office staff to maintain deadlines for seasonal menu planning
Assist the Head chef with inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs to optimise efficiency
Train new staff members and facilitate ongoing professional development for the team
Requirements
Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and preparation
Knowledge of allergen and dietary controls and safe handling
Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
Solid knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is essential, with a focus on high-quality service delivery
Skilled in cooking across various cuisines with attention to detail in presentation
Experience in food safety management and maintaining hygiene standards
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff

We are able to provide a super work/life balance rarely seen in hospitably offering set hours Monday - Friday 5:00 - 14:00.
We do not open on Bank Holidays and are closed during Christmas and New Year.
