ISDA is actively recruiting an information architect to lead and extend the traditional scope of the ISDA FpML data standard. With recent closer integration of ISDA's Data & Digital Solutions, ISDA is looking for an information architect who can offer fungible core digital capabilities and skills, which can be leveraged across FpML, Digital Regulatory Reporting (DRR) and the Common Domain Model (CDM).
The role will primarily focus on ensuring that FpML is maintained and member issues are addressed. The incumbent will run the relevant working sessions for the FpML community, initially under the guidance and direction of the Director, Data Standards.
The information architect would be expected to help contribute to new CDM technical capabilities and features - and raise broader awareness of the significant benefits that FpML (community knowledge & experiences) can bring to other initiatives within the ISDA digital ecosystem.
ISDA is looking for an Assistant Director-level information architect with experience developing financial data exchange standards. The ideal candidate will have industry-based FpML experience and good working knowledge of OTC derivatives products and financial trading platforms. This is a high-profile, front-of-house position with the opportunity to work with a variety of industry experts.
Duties and responsibilities
Lead and manage industry working groups, including developing and presenting technical proposals
Support the development of the FpML standard, including schema design and development
As part of the FpML team, contribute to the publication of FpML Specifications and associated documentation
Provide technical support and answer queries from the ISDA membership and FpML community
Translate legal and market infrastructure business requirements (from ISDA Legal & Derivative Product & Infrastructure teams) into technical specifications
Maintain FpML coding schemes and ISDA reference data
Teach FpML through ISDA training courses and conferences
Participate in ISDA's Digital Strategy initiatives, including MyLibrary and especially ISDA CDM/DRR, with a view to generating greater cohesion and synergy where possible
Skills and Experience
5 years of Information Architecture. Proficiency with XML, schema development, XML editing and modeling tools (oXygen, XML Spy).
5 years of experience with Financial product Markup Language (FpML). The candidate should be familiar with the FpML schema, including Views. Reading FpML examples, troubleshooting, validating, developing FpML files from scratch should be second nature to you
5 years of experience with OTC derivatives products in one or more asset classes (e.g. Interest Rates, Equity, Commodities, FX, Credit)
Experience with industry standards including FpML, FIX, ISO 20022 are a plus
Experience, knowledge, and an interest in ISDA CDM and DRR would be advantageous
Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. The successful candidate will run industry meetings and will be responsible for preparing the agenda and materials, writing meeting minutes. You will lead complex discussions and are expected to articulate often complex technical information, verbally and in writing.
Well-organized with keen attention to details
Strong business analysis skills with the ability to understand, capture, document, and translate business requirements into technical specifications
Scripting tools development (batch files), SVN, Git, or similar version control system
Exposure to and skill with XSLT and/or XQuery would be a highly desirable.
Some exposure to RESTful APIs would be helpful.
Ability to influence without authority and interact credibly with all levels of the organization internally and externally with members and/or other stakeholders.
