We are currently looking for an Assistant Director: Deputy Head of Legal Services to join us in a brand new key role at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).

About the role:



As the Assistant Director you will act as a specialist advisor in a broad range of legal specialities, ensuring a comprehensive and strategic corporate understanding of legal risk. You will deputise for the Head of Legal and will provide expert advice to the Executive Team and Board on legal matters, as well helping support and develop a legal service focussed on helping the regulator meet its fundamental objectives.



This is a leadership role, where you will manage a team of solicitors and legal professionals, supporting their development, alongside managing the delivery of the team's objectives and targets.

About you:



As the successful candidate you will be a qualified solicitor with demonstrable experience in a senior legal role. You will have specialist and technical knowledge in a relevant area, including public law, with the ability to quickly develop your expertise in new areas. You will have the ability to understand organisational strategic context and internal client objectives, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, developing and nurturing key senior relationships. You will have experience of managing legal professionals, with the ability to support and develop a high performing team.

Location



We operate a hybrid model of working with a mix of office and home working, as well as offering a range of flexible working arrangements.



This role can be based out of any of RSH's core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London and Bristol. Our Manchester and Bristol offices will be relocating during 2025/26, however will remain within the city centre. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.

Interviews



Interviews are expected to take place in December and will be held via Microsoft Teams. We expect this to be a two stage interview process.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award.
