Job Summary
Assistant Director ofFuture Ready- Connecting college to the world of work.
In the summer of 2025, the college revised its strategic vision that places it at the centre of a successful and ambitious local community. At its heart is the ambition to forge high value partnerships with local employers and to use these partnerships to provide opportunities for local young people and adults to forge successful and rewarding careers locally.
Achieving this vision will require the college to develop an ever more agile curriculum to meet employers' needs. This must provide students not only with the transferable skills that make them employment ready but also with a tailored transition into sustainable employment as their time at college comes to an end. It will also demand the creation and nurturing of relationships with local businesses that make us the first point of contact when a local business needs new talent or wants to upskill their existing workforce.
The college is now looking to appoint a senior leader to take this ambition forward. We want this person to create a version of a recruitment agency that encourages businesses to employ college students in order to address their skills needs. We also need them to engage with curriculum leaders to support them to flex the range of curriculum and funding streams at the college's disposal to create pathways from full-time education to full-time employment that work for both individual students and employers alike.
The ideal candidate will be able to think creatively, be able to forge lasting and impactful external partnerships and create positive, constructive working relationships with curriculum and support colleagues to deliver on the college's vision.
The post holder will carry line management responsibility for and drive the strategic direction of the college's employer engagement team. Reporting to the Vice Principal: Communication, engagement and student experience, the post-holder will need to work closely with the Vice Principal for curriculum and quality, curriculum focussed assistant principals, heads of department and work placement co-ordinators.
As well as experience in staff recruitment, the successful candidate will have significant experience or knowledge of the further education landscape, understand how regional and national developments may influence the college's offer and have a proven track record of developing long lasting and creative partnerships with businesses of all sizes.
The role will require you to embed the college's values;
