Job Description

Do you love Fiction? We have a fantastic opportunity to advance your editorial career within a commercial fiction imprint . In this dynamic position, you will collaborate closely with the publisher, editorial director, and a commissioning editor to contribute to the imprint\'s day-to-day operations and various aspects of the team\'s publishing endeavors. Your responsibilities will encompass serving as the desk editor, creating and reviewing Advance Information sheets (AI), preparing P&Ls for acquisition meetings, liaising with the sales team, and ensuring the accuracy of Biblio entries for all titles.

Additionally, you will read submissions, provide feedback to the editors, assess and, when necessary, reject submissions, whilst contributing to acquisitions meetings with potential projects. Further, you will be responsible for editorial management tasks, such as liaising with authors and the production department from the copyedit stage onwards, ensuring deadlines are met, and overseeing the typesetting process. Your role will also involve proof collation, checking corrections on pages, providing information for prelims, proofreading and signing off prelims for print, proofreading cover, and handling ad hoc tasks as required.

Your communication skills will shine as you interact with authors and agents, notifying them of digital promotions, sharing sales figures, and managing the ordering of gratis/contract copies from the warehouse for authors and agents. This multifaceted position promises an engaging and fast-paced environment where your contribution will be integral to the success of the imprint and the broader publishing team.
