We are pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Engineer to join our Drainage and Flood Risk Management Team. This is a fantastic chance to build on your experience and knowledge by working in a complex and varied workplace.
As a member of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality customer service while supporting the Council's responsibilities in flood risk management and drainage. Your work will include assisting with consultations, responding to enquiries, conducting investigations, and the delivery of minor schemes. These activities are essential to ensuring the Council fulfils its statutory duties and strategic objectives in accordance with the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, the Land Drainage Act 1991, the Highways Act 1980, and relevant local policies and strategies.
To be successful in the role you will demonstrate:
A HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar subject or equivalent relevant experience
Proven experience of working in highway drainage/flood risk management, with sound knowledge of the associated legislative requirements
Experience of delivering minor highway drainage and/or flood risk management projects
Experience of reviewing planning applications, technical submissions, and specifications for compliance and suitability
Knowledge of drainage systems, equipment and calculations
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and internal/external stakeholders
