Leaves Building and Maintenance Contractors is a well-established construction and maintenance company working across the South. We deliver planned works, reactive maintenance, and refurbishment projects for local authorities, housing associations, and charitable trusts. Our continued growth means we're now looking for the right person to join our preconstruction team and build a long-term commercial career within the business.

The Role:

We're recruiting for a driven and detail-focused Assistant Estimator / Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our Portsmouth-based team. Reporting directly to a Company Director, you'll support the estimating and commercial functions while developing your knowledge of preconstruction, procurement, and project delivery. This role is ideal for someone looking to enter a commercial construction role with long-term growth and training provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with preparing and reviewing preconstruction data, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Support site visits and help scope repair or project works (with training provided). Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to gather and compare quotations. Assist in producing project cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts. Help track contract variations and commercial updates across live jobs. Maintain accurate records and data on the company's ERP/CRM system. Gain exposure to wider business operations including compliance, project management, and contract administration.

What We're Looking For:

Someone with a basic understanding of construction - ideally with some site or trade experience (not essential). Ambition to grow into a commercial role with structured learning and on-the-job experience. A willingness to attend college (day release) to complete an NVQ, with progression to HNC. Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers and systems. Based locally in the Portsmouth area and able to commute to office, sites, and college. Full UK driving licence (or working towards it).
