Job Description


The Finance Directorate at Queen\xe2\x80\x99s University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Assistant Finance Business Partner \xe2\x80\x93 Research.

You will be responsible for the provision of research finance information and costings to academics and external sponsors within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. A core responsibility of the post is to assist academic colleagues with the pre-award aspects of research finance including the costing of research proposals and the submission of completed applications to sponsors. You will co-ordinate the transition of research projects from pre-award to post-award team for externally sponsored research projects. Duties of the post will also involve co-ordinating the production of management information on a regular basis for senior staff.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • A-Levels, NVQ 3 or equivalent and experience of preparing financial management information, financial analysis/reconciliations and providing advice to inform decision making OR;
  • Substantial experience of preparing financial management information, financial analysis/reconciliations and providing advice to inform decision making.
  • Experience of using complex computerised accounting systems.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial information.
  • Experience of supervising staff.
  • Experience of effectively working as part of a team.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with good experience of key functions contained within.
