The Assistant Finance Manager Job



This is a developmental opportunity for an aspiring Assistant Management Accountant who is eager to step into a Management Accountant job in the near future with clear progression to Finance Manager. Reporting to an experienced team leader, you'll take responsibility for key finance functions including monthly journals, fixed asset management, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and reporting across the European group. You'll also assist with management accounts preparation, audits, VAT returns, and ad-hoc analysis while supporting and collaborating with the wider finance and ledger teams.

There is also a chance to be involved in the roll-out of a new ERP system and make an impact on process improvements. The role sits within a small, dedicated finance team and offers direct mentorship from the Finance Director and Management Accountant, positioning you clearly on a progression path.

Requirements



To be successful in this role, you will need:

AAT qualification (or equivalent degree) - and a desire to continue studying (study support is provided). Experience in a finance team in a similar role, ideally with some exposure to management accounts. Ideally in a manufacturing or stock related environment. Strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to learning and development. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Self-awareness and the ambition to grow into a more senior position.
Experience with ERP systems and Excel proficiency will be a strong advantage.
