We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting. This role requires a deep understanding of financial concepts and regulatory compliance. The Assistant Finance Manager will be responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in the financial operations of the organization, ensuring complete and accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Oversee day to day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations.
Support the month end and year end closing procedures.
Prepare and review journal entries, financial reports and management reports.
Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and adherence to internal accounting policies.
Conduct thorough account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accuracy in financial records.
HMRC submissions and payments such as VAT Returns, PAYE & NIC, Corporation Tax and PPT.
Calculate rebates per specific agreements in place with buying groups and customers, ensuring accurate filing of documentation and accruals.
Assist in coordinating internal and external audits.
Monitor and manage cash flow forecasts.
Supervise, train and guide junior accounting staff.
Liaise with other departments, customers and suppliers as required.
Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the department.
Collaborate and foster good working relationships with the accounting team that consists of 3 credit controllers, 2 accounts assistants and a senior accounts assistant.
Requirements
Progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively while fostering collaboration.
Proficient in financial software applications and tools for efficient financial reporting such as SAP Business One and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organisational and problem solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Must be motivational to support productivity and good morale within the accounts department.
