ABOUT THE ROLE




We are looking for a passionate and experienced Assistant Manager for our beautiful Cotswold's pub, The Three Horseshoes in Asthall, Oxfordshire.

You will be involved in the daily running of each of our departments, from our award-winning fine dining restaurant supporting our department managers & striving for exceptional standards at every opportunity.



You will be an ambassador for The Bamford Collection, which is a group of consciously minded brands that are committed to nourishing people and the planet. The collection is made up of three brands; Daylesford Organic, Daylesford Stays and Bamford.

SALARY:

38,950 per annum plus Tronc

HOURS:

Full Time 48 Hours weekends included




RESPONSIBILITIES




To take ownership of the day-to-day service operations, ensuring that every guest receives an exceptional and consistent experience. This includes upholding company standards, improving guest satisfaction, and actively contributing to the achievement of overall business goals such as profitability, customer retention, and brand reputation.



Work as a consummate host to our guests and residents. Ensure the restaurant, pub, and garden are set up for the day, constantly checking tables, replenishing stock, maintaining standards, and delegating tasks where appropriate. Actively drive average spend per head by identifying all opportunities for recommendations Maintain full knowledge of the menu, including beverages, and give detailed descriptions of dishes, provide guest recommendations, and give accurate allergen advice. Ensure effective shift management by leading and motivating the front of house team and delivering seamless service. Manage restaurant operations effectively, maximising sales through efficient table turning. Work alongside the kitchen and bar team on continuous development of food and beverage offerings. Collaborate closely with departments such as the kitchen, bar, housekeeping, and admin to ensure cohesive operations and a seamless guest journey across all touchpoints. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of restaurant staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure the restaurant is appropriately staffed for all shifts, while managing holiday requirements. Team management; absence management, performance reviews and assisting with team recruitment. Ensure all transactions are correct, including balancing floats, change handling, banking, and cash reconciliation. Maintaining open and effective communication with the General Manager, providing regular updates, insights, and feedback. Highlight health and safety matters to line manager or appropriate parties.

SKILLS YOU WILL BRING



Experience in managing a small team;

previous leadership experience

is advantageous.

Leadership & Team Management

- Ability to motivate, supervise, and support staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Customer Service Excellence

- Strong focus on guest satisfaction, handling complaints professionally, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Operational Knowledge

- Understanding of bar/pub operations including stock control, health & safety regulations, and licensing laws.

Financial Awareness

- Basic budgeting, cost control, and an eye on sales performance to support profitability.

Problem Solving & Decision Making

- Quick thinking and sound judgment to manage issues as they arise during busy shifts.
