Job Description

Main Purpose of Role: To assist and support the General Manager/s in the day to day operations of a Butcombe premises, including taking full responsibility for the business in the absence of the Manager.Reports to: General Manager, Operations Manager, Managing Director.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the General Manager in the smooth operation and function of the premises on a day to day basis
  • Taking full responsibility for the operation of the premises during periods of manager's absence such as normal days off, holidays and sickness.
  • Taking specific responsibility for one or more areas of the business. Examples might include cellar management, staff training or food service
  • Assisting the General Manager in developing and growing revenue and profitability in line with agreed budgets
  • Delivering an excellent quality standard in all areas of the business especially with regard to customer service, business presentation and products sold.
  • Assisting the General Manager in the control of food and liquor stock and margins within company tolerances.
  • Assisting with the effective discharge of all statutory obligations e.g. health & safety, food safety, employment law, fire regulations, licensing law.
Main Duties Include:
  • Being a visible and operationally active presence for both customers and staff during key trading periods - time off during key trading periods only with express permission of your line manager.
  • Ensuring excellent standards of customer service in all aspects of the business.
  • Assisting in effective stock control of all wet stock through the use of systems and processes as directed by the General Manager, including cooperation with stock auditor.
  • Assisting the General Manager in maintaining effective and secure controls of all monies held on premises including regular cashing up, safe procedures and banking.
  • Helping to maintain excellent product quality both in regard to food and drink (with particular attention paid to Butcombe products) in line with company policies.
  • Maintaining excellent levels of presentation and cleanliness in all areas of the premises (including assisting in the implementation and maintenance of effective cleaning schedules)
  • Efficient and accurate reporting of sales figures, staffing costs and staffing levels as required by Head Office in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Assisting the General Manager in planning staffing requirements and completing duty rotas in line with company policies and within agreed budgets.
  • Ensuring effective security of premises, monies, stock, staff and customers at all times.
  • Being aware and ensuring staff awareness of company policies, practice and procedures as outlined in the company Staff Handbook.
  • To undertake such other duties and reasonable requests as required by the business or commensurate with the role.
